In its twenty-one
years of existence, Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills has sold 182 homes to low income families. Currently four
homes are in various stages of construction.
We normally build 15-18 homes per year. Four
families received their homes in November 2009, one
in February 2010, two in April 2010, and two in June
2010.
It takes between six and ten months to build a Habitat home. We are currently building houses in Carthage,
Southern Pines, and Richmond County in the 2009-20010 fiscal Year.
Soon we will begin building in the Midway Community
of Aberdeen.
We currently sell Habitat homes for between $66,000 and $70,000, depending upon the location of the home size of the home and lot size.
Habitat homeowners pay approximately $370 per month for principal, insurance and taxes. Homes are sold with zero interest. The mortgages are no-profit and go into our Fund for Humanity that enables us to continue building homes.
The average cost to build a Habitat home in Moore County was $66,500 last year. This includes land, infrastructure and all house costs (except for staff, program and administrative expenses. These funds are raised separately).
In 2009 Habitat homeowners paid over $85,000 in property taxes.
We build homes for families
between 30% - 60% of the Annual Median Income.
Income ranges of family qualifications are
determined by family size:
