Volunteers are the lifeblood of Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills, and it gives us great pride that our homes are constructed almost entirely by volunteers. That work continues beyond the construction site. Habitat volunteers are active at our office, they assist our ReStore staff, they serve on committees, and they are engaged in various community revitalization projects.

Aging in Place Repair Program

Our Aging in Place repair program in accepting applications for repairs for the month of September!  Habitat is able to help homeowners who are 55 and older or physically disabled who struggle to maintain the integrity of their homes. Through the Aging in Place Program, people are able to reclaim their homes with pride and dignity and age in place. Our impact advances housing and health equity. We know that aging in place extends longevity and quality of life, and safe and stable housing and community networks are core to these outcomes. Surveys of homeowners that partner with us show they’re mentally and physically healthier, feel safer at home, and engage with their family and friends more.

Safe and accessible housing is a key social determinant of health. As leaders in housing, with our vast network across the United States and evidence-based approach, Habitat’s Aging in Place program advances both housing and health equity for older Americans.
