“The reward for doing good
is the opportunity to do more.”
Our affiliate has taken significant steps to ensure we can continue building affordable housing in the Sandhills for generations to come. Following a transformative gift from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott in 2022 and months of diligent searching for available land, we secured 103 acres of beautiful property in Aberdeen. This site will become a thoughtfully planned, mixed-income community designed to help meet the housing needs of more than 300 families—neighbors who help make our community a wonderful place to live and work. Over the next ten years, Habitat will build 150 homes, each paired with a guaranteed affordable mortgage for families earning between 30 and 80 percent of the county’s median income, keeping homeownership within reach for working families.
At Habitat, we believe everyone deserves a safe, decent and affordable home. Families who partner with us build their own homes alongside volunteers, pay an affordable mortgage and are grateful for your help. We provide a hand up…not a handout by partnering with families who invest their time and energy to purchase a home.
Homebuyers-in-Progress work onsite to build their own home.
Aging in Place Home Repairs provide critical repairs needed to live safely at home.
We also provide critical home repair services to homeowners age 55 and older and to individuals living with disabilities who own their homes and need safe, affordable exterior repairs. These repairs often include roof and window replacements, accessibility improvements such as wheelchair ramps, and other essential updates that help residents remain safely and independently in their homes. By addressing urgent exterior needs, Habitat helps preserve housing stability, protect homeowners from further costly damage, and ensure dignity and safety for some of our community’s most vulnerable neighbors.

Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization. Since our founding in 1988, we have served nearly 1,000 families through new home construction, critical home repairs, and our long-standing tithe partnership with Haiti and Zambia. As we look ahead, we will continue our global impact by tithing with partner countries Honduras and Zambia.
We invite you to join us. Monthly orientations are held on the third Thursday of each month at 5:00 p.m. in our conference room at 2268 NC 5 Hwy, Aberdeen.
Thank you for building with us.
