Women 2024 Build

At Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills, we believe that everyone should have access to safe and affordable housing. That's why we're proud to host Women Build events that empower women to take a proactive step in serving their communities. Women Build provides a unique opportunity for women of all ages to make a lasting impact and promote social progress. By participating in Women Build, you'll not only help families build strength, stability, and independence, but you'll also build community resilience. You can also involve your friends and family of all ages in crucial work with a lasting impact. Women helping women sends a positive and powerful message that together, we can make a difference. Join us for Women Build events and let's make a lasting impact on our community!

Meet our 2024 Homebuyer In Progress

Madira Hoffman was born in Germany but has spent most of her life in the Sandhills. She is the mother of two young boys living in Cameron and looking forward to building her new home in Addor. Madira’s passion is sewing; she excelled in high school and college and works as a lead sewing machine operator for Spiritus Systems. On her time off you can find her hiking, walking, or working in the garden. She is looking forward to the peace of mind that comes with owning her own home!

The  Women Build Committee mission is to raise awareness of the need for affordable housing in Moore County and works to engage volunteers of any skill level in the planning, fundraising and building of a safe, affordable home.  Through contributing to this unique program, participants gain skills and confidence in all aspects of a build project while working with a team of committee members, crew leaders, volunteers, and tradeswomen in a supportive, empowering building environment.  Committee members engage in the fundraising, outreach, event planning and general development of the growing Women Build program. The power and strength of women are amplified when we join together in a common cause and are inspired to go beyond our comfort zones. This year we will raise $70,000, which will help purchase construction materials for a Habitat Home in Aberdeen.
